Obama and Gates vs. U. S. Police Departments and Law & Order

President Obama's friend and Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr ,  started this whole thing with his quick draw on the race card. He refused to stop his persistent and loud accusatory racial discrimination tirade, and, after being warned, was arrested for disorderly conduct by the Cambridge, Massachusetts, Police Department's Sergeant James Crowley. During a national news conference, Obama showed his true radical colors, and piled on to pander to his base. The question was a set up from this phony press corps. His inflammatory remark, "The Cambridge Police acted stupidly," undermined law & order and split the country on racial lines. He hoped to create a diversion away from his destructive Cap & Tax and Obamacare socialist con jobs which are, correctly, in danger of passing.

Obama dangerously escalated this small local issue into a major national racial issue by answering a planted question to pander to blacks who complain that this half-white president doesn't act black enough. Is he going to comment on every black man arrested in the U.S.? Or, just his Harvard pals?

Serious sides started being taken when the Cambridge Police Department, backed by national police associations, showed unified support for Sergeant Crowley, and asked for an apology from President Obama. He, by all accounts, is a cop with an exemplary record, never having been accused of racial bias, and actually having given classes in avoiding unfair racial profiling. Bill Cosby chimed in that he did not like the national size, direction and sides being taken, namely, Obama and Gates versus U.S. Police Departments and law & order. He asked the president  to apologize. Professor Gates defiantly went on television said he would do the exact same thing and is considering a law suit.

After the huge national furor, the President, at first, half-apologized, acknowledged his words were ill-chosen, and said,

"This has been ratcheting up, and I obviously helped to contribute ratcheting it up. I want to make clear that in my choice of words, I think I unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department and Sgt. Crowley specifically. And I could've calibrated those words differently."

Since that time President Obama has additionally accepted the suggestion from Sergeant Crowley that Professor Gates, Sergeant Crowley  and he get together for a beer at the White House to try to smooth this over. Gates has indicated he will accept and and toned down his rhetoric, saying,

"I told the president that my principal regret was that all of the attention paid to his deeply supportive remarks during his press conference had distracted attention from his health care initiative,"Gates said. "I am pleased that he, too, is eager to use my experience as a teaching moment, and if meeting Sergeant Crowley for a beer with the president will further that end, then I would be happy to oblige."

It was a marked change in tone for Gates, who in the days following his arrest gathered up his legal team and said he was contemplating a law suit. He even vowed to make a documentary on his arrest to tie into a larger project about racial profiling.

In an e-mail to the Boston Globe late Friday, he said: "It is time for all of us to move on, and to assess what we can learn from this experience."

Ann Coulter points out that this charged was only dropped after Gates played all his black political connections. The powerful black professor called the powerful black mayor, who called the powerful black governor, who called the half-black president. The president had no business wading into this small local issue in the first place. His usually carefully scripted, teleprompter news conference questions, keep him from answering spontaneously like this. Now the American people can see why. The President should give a full apology. Otherwise, this looks like an attempted abuse of power that is sanctimoniously cloaked in racial politics. It's dangerous and inflammatory.

He vastly underestimates the American people. This, and the low level fly-over Manhattan by Air Force One, show reckless disregard for public safety and law and order. This ideologue wants to redistribute wealth and buy votes. America knows that his broad, sweeping, false promises are not backed by economic reality. The independent CBO has stated as much. The American people have figured this out and he is plummeting in the polls.

If we are to truly have open dialogue about racism, than it is time we start talking about these high priests of perpetual and eternal victomhood. These people who use race to generate personal power and profit by inciting racial conflict. It is sad to see that this “religion of racism” has made its way to the White House. Wasn’t President Barack Hussein Obama supposed to bring about the dawn of unity in our nation?

Professor Gates degree is in Black Studies. One of the many "soft disciplines" that so exemplifies the politically correct decline in our academic system. These disciplines attempt to legitimize the "My people as victim, give me preferential treatment and money" mentality of the far-left. If we continue to dumb down our academic system to make sure that everybody's feelings are not hurt as the primary goal, over actually teaching hard disciplines with real standards, then we will be left in the dust by competent, hard working countries, like China. China cares little about what we think of their human rights record and is truly building a growing economy.
