Un-American Townhall Protesters but American Whitehouse Snitches?
The two top Democrats in the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and majority Leader Steny Hoyer, have escalated the war of words over health care reform, calling some of the behavior of protesters at town hall events across the country “un-American.”
“It is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt tpublic meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialog,” the pair wrote in a Monday op-ed for USA Today.“These tactics have included hanging in effigy one Democratic member of Congress in Maryland and protesters holding a sign displaying atombstone with the name of another congressman in Texas, where protesters also shouted “Just say no!” drowning out those who wanted to hold a substantive discussion.”
“These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American,” they continued. This is a classic example of what Ann Coulter has pointed out is psychological projection of liberal democratic guilt, i.e. whatever they are accusing you of doing they are themselves, in fact, actively doing. Nancy Pelosi has alluded to swastikas and Nazi allusions as being the tools of the radical right wing protesters. This twisting of the facts that some of the signs correctly pointed out the dictatorial imposition of this bill on the American public by the Obama Administration and the Democrat controlled Congress. This is another example of the concept of projection when they are the ones actually acting like dictators. The town hall protesters are simply participating in the democratic process by attending a public meeting and expressing their concerns that health care choice are being taken away from them and would result in some unnamed, unelected panel or czar rationing health care that they need to stay alive because they don't have enough years of life left to clear Ezekial Emanuel's justification standards.
Equally ironic and hypocritical is the fact that Barack Obama made an early political career out of being a "community organizer". So why is it suddenly an unruly mob when conservatives appear at town hall meetings around the country to express their concerns about the aggressive take-over of of our health care by the United States Government? These people are coming of their own volition to oppose a ridiculous bill that could bankrupt the United States. Yes, there have been social networking postings about these meetings, but they are, and should be public, and open events. Publicity about them, by any means should be viewed positively. Instead they tried to stack the deck with only supporters at a recent Tampa, Florida town hall and shoved out concerned opposing citizens with union thugs.
Another alarming and disturbing tactic was the publishing on the white house.gov website of a YouTube video by an unelected czar named Linda Douglass, Communications Director, Office of Health Reform who said, as part of her job in eliminating disinformation about the health care reform bill, to provide the names of any one who sends emails, or says anything in passing conversation that seems "fishy". According to Judge Napolitano on FOX News, this is an illegal violation of the First Amendment right to political free speech. The State shall not intimidate through tactics such as an "enemies list" the exercise of political free speech. Sen John Cornyn sent a letter asking what they intended to do with the collected information as well. By statute the White house is a bit of a conundrum. They are required to keep a record of all received correspondence and emails, but in doing so they are keeping an illegally acquired intimidation list.
The liberal NBC reporter Andrea Mitchell, wife of Alan Greenspan, also chimed in that the people in these town halls should be in favor of the bill because "They may not know what's good for them". This is an offensive condescending dismissal of concerned, informed citizens, totally legitimate concerns.
The abuses of the U.S. Constitution and the attack on the majority of the American people and their concerns about one of the most sweeping changes in American history is indicative of the aggressive and blind socialist agenda of the Obama Administration and the democratic controlled congress.
